Annual Flushing Maintenance Program

April 17, 2025

PWSD#2 of Andrew County will begin our annual maintenance program of flushing the District's water lines, on the week of April 21, 2025, and will continue through the month of June. The district's water supplier has begun switching the water treatment from "chloramines" to a form of chlorine known as "free chlorine", which does not include ammonia. This stronger disinfectant is typically used by water utilities when flushing water mains. During the temporary treatment change, customers may notice a chlorine taste or odor in their water. This is normal and not a reason for concern, it is due to the switch in chlorine types. Our employees will be flushing hydrants which may result in temporary discoloration and reduced pressure in your area. The treatment change and flushing will continue through June. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Any questions, please call 816-378-3395
